5 non-cringeworthy ways to spend Valentines Day
I admit it. Feeling forced to do something romantic on Valentines Day can feel roughly the same as being a Panda forced to watch “Panda Porn” by the Chinese state in the hopes of getting more panda cubs. You feel compelled to do something by others, there’s a pressure to perform and quite frankly you’re not sure where to look.
As someone who has felt awkward on many a Valentines Day, I know both sides of the coin. When you’re single you end up with unsolicited messages from people you’d rather didn’t have your number and when you’re in a relationship you’re never quite sure how big a fuss to make. That is of course unless you’re married, in which case you have the freedom to send a card that truly reflects your feelings however romantic or unromantic they may be.
This Valentines I know exactly what I’m doing but for those of you who are squirming at the thought of it, may I respectfully make 5 suggestions:
1. Consider going to the Everyman
Even if the film is terrible, the Everyman always provides a fun experience with good food, non-stale popcorn and comfortable seats. However, if the film you choose is over 2 hours 30 minutes don’t be surprised if the person unlucky enough to be with you walks out that same night.
